NATURE’S SUPERMARKET
The talk will examine the relationship between our two life support systems: the market system and the eco-system, the former being a wholly owned subsidiary of the later.
The material balance principle shows how the flow of goods and services in the market place draws on ecological resources and discharges waste back into the eco-system. A healthy market economy requires ecologically sustainable management of environmental resources and proper treatment of the waste flow.
The talk will be illustrated by examples of ecologically best and worse practices in the Australian economy.
